Fountain workflow

Plain text in. A living scene out.

Fountain's portability makes it a natural bridge between writing tools and performance. NarrativeForge is designed to preserve scene headings, characters, dialogue, parentheticals, transitions, notes, and identifiers wherever the format provides them.

Fountain support in development

Portable workflow

Move between Highland, WriterDuet, text editors, and NarrativeForge.

Because Fountain is open and text-based, it can support a lightweight watched-export workflow without requiring NarrativeForge to become another screenwriting editor.

Revision matching

Stable scene and character decisions can outlive the file version.

NarrativeForge is designed to reconcile structure and text changes, retain cast assignments, and flag ambiguous matches for human review rather than silently attaching direction to the wrong scene.

Transparency

When formatting is ambiguous, show the uncertainty.

The importer should explain what it recognized, what it inferred, and what requires confirmation, preserving trust in a workflow where plain text can contain creative exceptions.
